About SSMLT

The Saskatchewan Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists (SSMLT) is the regulatory body for Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) employed in Saskatchewan as constituted under the Medical Laboratory Technologists Act (1995) of Saskatchewan. The SSMLT protects and serves the public, patients, and our members by setting entrance to practice requirements, creating and enforcing a Professional Improvement Program (continuing education) and minimum practice hour’s component to ensure members continued competence. SSMLT also manages the formal process for the adjudication of complaints. Professional regulation is one measure to assure the public that MLTs provide safe, competent, and ethical healthcare services.

The SSMLT is administered by an executive council consisting of 9 council members and 2 public representatives and employ 1 administrative staff. SSMLT has representation on a wide variety provincial and national committees and organizations. Council meets a minimum of three times per year.  SSMLT conducts an Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the membership each year. Members of the public are welcome to attend any council meeting or the AGM as guests.
